SOME HISTORY
In the 1930s Mt Hawthorn was evolving as a hub of business and social activity. A working class suburb, home to many ethnic families, it was a place where businesses and shops were interspersed amongst houses. Then, as now, much of the social activity centred around the Mt Hawthorn Hotel, now the Paddington Alehouse.
The site of GEO at 190 Scarborough Beach Road was first owned by a George Pearce who ran his store on the ground level and lived in an apartment over the shop. Interestingly, some 70 years later, Urban Concepts is revisiting this live/work concept and at the same time breathing new life into the suburb.
